This vintage rug was handwoven by the artisans of Marmoucha.
Marmoucha is a village located in Northern Morocco. It sits just south of Fez. Marmoucha is in the region where the infamous Beni Ourain tribe once lived.
Marmoucha is both the name of the village as well as the rug style. This area produces some of the strongest wool in all of Morocco, which allows their rugs to feel extra plush and soft. This piece was woven with 100% locally sourced wool, dyed using local plants from the village.
