TROPIA ART X TAJMI

Nairobi - She walked through the green steppe feeling the fresh grass on her feet, a gift from the rain, a gift from the great God Ngai…she felt peace as one of her leopard friends approached her with gentle eyes…

The name Nairobi comes from the Maasai phrase Enkare Nyorobi, which means “the place of fresh waters”, however it is popularly known as the “green place of the sun.” The name of the Maasai God is Ngai. The primary belief in this God is to bring the great rain, as grass and vegetation are sacred elements in their culture. Nairobi sits adjacent to the eastern edge of the Rift Valley in Kenya, while the Nairobi river and its tributaries cuts through the Nairobi county.
