Playa Quemada Art Print
Playa quemada, meaning “Burned Beach“, is one of these unique beaches you will never forget. Located on the volcanic island Lanzarote (Canary Islands), it is a small hidden village between volcanos created by fishermen in ancient times. It is composed of volcanic rocks and the only vegetation found are cacti and Agaves. The name Agave is derived from the Greek “Agavos” meaning “illustrious.” In ancient tribal cultures like the Aztec goddess, Mayheul, represented Agave’s symbol of long life and health, dancing and fertility. The Agave plant only blooms with its majestic trunk once in its life and then dies, this wonderful moment is what I have captured in this illustration.
