Quetzal Goddess Art Print

from €90.00

The Quetzal, a beautiful tropical bird, and one of the most important symbols of Mesoamerica, was highly appreciated by the Mayan and Aztec tribes. Also representing the concept of freedom, the local tradition considers that in ancient times, it was believed that the Quetzal preferred to die of hunger, rather than to live as a prisoner; showing us a clear parallelism to the Mayan culture suffering the European invasions, loosing their traditions, land and freedom.

Tropia imagines that perhaps elegant colonial women from Europe were sensitive enough to explore and connect with the beautiful nature and creatures of this rich land.
