Raw Wool Runners

from €90.00

Handwoven on a backstrap loom in Mexico. The raw wool is shorn, washed and carded by hand, then spun on a traditional drop spindle (malacate). Once the piece has been completed on the loom, it goes through a vigorous washing process, helping it shrink - which is why exact sizing is almost impossible! Depending on the weaver, a single piece can take 3-5 weeks to produce end to end.

They are used as rugs, or can be cut to make bags, cushions, ponchos or small stuffed animals. They are known locally as “tapete”.
