For centuries these bags have been used for fishing in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. These days you will find them being used for everyday use. Each bag takes roughly 4-5 weeks to produce.

Made using agave plant fibre, the agave is stripped and washed in water, and made into a fine string which takes incredible skill from the artisan.

These particular bags have been coloured using smoke, hung over an open fire. They are then soaked in the ash of the fire to darken the colour of the fibres. Please note, they do have a slight smokey scent.

The straps are traditional to these bags, and are rustic, hand cut leather which is adjustable to suit your desired length. Naturally the leather will darken over time but you can use vegetable oil to speed up this process (it will be permanent). The leather comes from a by-product of the local food supply.

Approx. Size (before use): 40 cm x 40 cm (these bags can stretch out considerably and hold a lot)

Material: Agave fibre and untreated leather.

*DO NOT place in a washing machine.
