Soul Tree Art Print

from €90.00

The eye is one of the most ancient symbols in human history. It can represent clairvoyance, omniscience, and/or a gateway into the soul or into the deep unconsciousness. Going back to one of the oldest civilizations, the Sumerians exaggerated the representation of their sculptures by abnormally enlarging their eyes to enhance the sensation of dutiful watchfulness.

In several other ancient cultures, the ritual of opening their totems eye, is a manifestation of giving life. One of the most famous of all Egyptian symbols is the Eye of Horus. Egyptians were the originators of the detached eye as a motif: among other representations. For example a pair of eyes painted on a coffin that allowed the dead to see in the afterlife.

The soul tree, in this illustration drawn as a palm tree, was a sacred tree planted in the forest of the moon of Endor in Israel. The vase where the tree is coming out, represents the immersive deep world of the soul.
